Oh, San Diego!

This past weekend Rob's company hosted this retreat of sorts in San Diego. Spouses were invited along to all expenses paid. Rob and I debated for awhile about what to do. We kind of wanted to get away by ourselves for our anniversary, but Taylor is still nursing and it was just to much work to figure out the logistics of how to leave her. So we decided to just take her along and see how it goes.
She actually did better than I thought she would on the plane. She didn't fuss at all. Which was a relief because I swear when people see you get on the plane with a baby you can just see the " oh great, a baby to scream the whole way and make me miserable" look in their eyes!
By time we got to the hotel Friday night though she was pretty wasted. So we called the front desk to get a crib in our room( which we had called ahead and they said they had plenty) and they we out of cribs! Of course! Eventually they did call us back and they had found one. Thank goodness. I could have kissed the guy when he brought it up I was so grateful. Saturday was filled with motivational speakers. We were not allowed to take Taylor to those, so I just kind of hung out while Rob went. He had a break for lunch so I decided to meet him and eat. As we were walking in they informed us we could not even bring Taylor in for lunch! So it was kind of a bust. We ended up going out to eat and after lunch Rob took Taylor and let me go to one of the speakers. It was really good. I am glad that I went but it probably wasn't worth all of the work to get there since we could not participate in much. I guess it was nice to get away though and see San Diego a bit. Rob and hadn't been back there since we got married almost six years ago.
It is so beautiful there. Every time we go to California I think, " No wonder people pay so much money to live here!"

Rob skipped the big dinner and awards banquet to hang out with Taylor and ME since we couldn't go in. After walking around the bay for a little while we decided to eat at this nice restaurant called the Fish Market. Rob LOVES sea food. It proved to be a challenge though to relax and enjoy our food since Taylor wanted to be entertained every minute.

It's Raining? Really?

I have been meaning to post these pictures of my little brother's graduation. It is so weird that he is leaving the house and going to school. It makes me feel old. Well here in Arizona they have the high school graduations outside. Don't ask me why. I hear that normally it is so hot and miserable. Well this year it decided to rain. This is so crazy because it never rains in AZ, especially this time of year I guess. In the morning it was kind of sprinkling but we all really thought it would stop. It is not normal for it to rain all day here. Anyways, it did and it only started raining harder. So we sat on towels on metal bleachers for about 2 hrs. in the pouring rain to watch Glen graduate. It was crazy!

My sister Chrystal was my date because both of our husbands stayed at home with the kiddies.

A couple days later we had a little graduation party for Glen at Chrystal's house. We had a good time telling Glen all of the things we wish we had known or done after we graduated from high school. I am sure he was so happy to sit through all of that. Maybe those are things you just have to learn and experience on your own. It was fun anyways!

Daddy & Daughter

Taylor loves her Daddy...

She really does just light up when he gets home from work. She gets the biggest smile and starts wiggling her whole body. It is really cute.

I took these pictures one Sunday because Rob bought this dress for Taylor months before she was even born. He was on a work trip in CA and had some down time and went shopping and bought her a couple dresses. I thought it was so cute and now she finally fits into it!

Watching the NBA finals together. It is a little scary how much the TV already sucks her in...She must be worried for her team here...

Six Months

I think the theme of this past month of Taylor's life would be:
What can I put in my mouth?

She has become so aware and curious of her surroundings and she wants to touch and grab EVERYTHING and as soon as she gets it goes straight to the mouth. She gets most excited when she gets her hands on paper. Her whole little body gets excited like she can't even stand it.

Milestone

Our biggets milestone- this last week I started to feed her rice cereal for the first time. SHe hasn't quite decided if she likes it yet. We are still working on the whole process. I think I am still trying to get used to it too. Just nursing seemed so much easier. Now I have this whole new thing to do with her and I feel like I have no idea what I am doing. Which sounds pretty stupid because your probably thinking How hard can it be?

My Favorites

She has this great hair that sticks straight up.

Her cute little pre- cry face

And all of her chubby little rolls and wrinkles, of course!

Busy Having Fun

A Visit from Family...
We always love having company. Last week Rob's sister Heidi and her family came into to town to visit. We had such a good time hanging out with them and it was so fun for them to get to see Taylor. The kids could make Taylor laugh so hard she would practically lose her breath. It was SO cute. We mostly did a lot of swimming. I think the kids could have stayed in the pool all day. One day Rob and Tim went to see Terminator, so Heidi and I took the kids to a peach farm and picked peaches. We had a good time and made a yummy peach cobbler later.

Memorial Day Party...

Since Rob's sister was here Memorial day weekend we thought it would be fun to have a BBQ/ Pool party. Rob and I love having these little get togethers at our house.

Rob came up with all of these games to play. We set up this homemade water slide in the front yard. Then we played pool games. Toothpick: where you put toothpicks on the bottom of the pool and everyone stands on the side waiting for them to float up. When you see one you have to jump in and grab it because if you don't get one you will be eliminated. It was So fun. Then we played Watermelon: where you grease a watermelon with Vaseline and then you throw it in the middle of the pool and each team try to get it onto the other teams side. Much harder than it sounds! And so violent when you play with men! The whole week we felt like we were going non stop and we had such a good time. It was nice because Rob had a 5 day weekend so I loved having him around.

Easter

We had a really nice Easter Sunday last week. We went to church in the morning. It was a really nice meeting, and I really wanted to focus on what Easter is really about. I have been so inspired by other peoples stories of how they are trying to refocus on what Easter really means, I want to be better. Especially all the cute ways to try to teach your kids. I hope I can do that with Taylor someday soon. I admit I am not really good at trying to focus on whats important, but I have been really thinking about the Atonement lately. What a truly amazing gift that I cannot even really understand or wrap my head around. I just know that I am endlessly thankful and know I owe EVERYTHING to my Savior and His amazing sacrifice for me, who feels terribly unworthy.
Anyways...
It was a lot of fun to have a little girl to dress up. After church my family came over and we had a big dinner and than some games and Easter activities after. I was in charge of buying the ham. I had to laugh to myself because as I was buying this 9 lb. ham I thought about how I used to buy this little bitty ham for Rob and I. It really couldn't have been more than a pound. That is what we did our last few Easters together. It has changed SO much. Those Easters were great too, but it was nice to have a big family dinner ( we missed you Amber & Scott).

Here is Taylor with her cousins. It is hard to tell, but these are the matching shirts my sister Chrystal and I made for our girls. They were cute together, but Taylor had to go down for a nap so this was about all we got of them and we could not get Taylor to smile. Not much else is going on. Taylor is getting so squirmy. She wants to put everything in her mouth. Her newest thing is that while she is sleeping she rolls herself over onto her belly. Well when she wakes up she remembers that she hates being on her belly and starts crying. So I have been getting up a few times each night to roll her over and then she'll fall back to sleep. I have tried propping blankets around her and everything, but somehow she still manages to roll over. I am hoping that this little phase doesn't last long!
